I’m super excited to be running tulip mini sessions at Holland Ridge Farms next month! My very first year visiting was just two years ago with my kiddos. I packed up my camera and took the cutest photos of them frolicking among the rows of tulips. When I started my photography business just a few short months after, I knew yearly mini sessions at the tulip fields were definitely something I would be offering my future clients!

Read below for what to expect and how to prepare.

Holland Ridge Farms charges admission fee to everyone ages three and up.

Each member of your party will need a ticket to enter the farm. Tickets are sold online only and they do sell out so make sure to purchase your ticket as soon as you can. In the past, they have opened up ticket sales week by week. Tickets are also date and time specific so make sure you purchase your ticket for the correct date and time. You can read more about how to purchase tickets on Holland Ridge Farms website.

There is so much to do at Holland Ridge Farms.

I always encourage families who have a photoshoot scheduled to make sure they leave plenty of time to walk around and visit the farm. It is definitely an experience that you want to take time to enjoy with your family. Once you enter the farm with your timed ticket, there is no time limit to how long you can stay. With your admission price you get to enjoy the impressive tulip fields in every color imaginable. You can pick up a bucket and shears at the entrance to cut some flowers to take home. Flowers are $1 per stem.

You also get to enjoy a tractor ride around the perimeter of the farm with various stops. There are tons of yummy food trucks and a barnyard bakery with delicious baked goods. There is a petting zoo with animals and in the past they have had pony rides.

The farm is huge.

There is a lot of walking involved once you arrive at the farm. If you have little ones, a stroller is definitely helpful to have. Wear a comfortable pair of shoes and you can bring a change of shoes if you would like, for your mini session.

In order to help you navigate the farm, maps are available at the front entrance. You can click here to view a map.

Dress comfortably for the location and the weather.

When choosing your outfits to visit Holland Ridge, consider that the fields can sometimes be wet or muddy. Boots look super cute and can help compliment an outfit for a farm-themed look. Sandals or even bare feet are perfect if you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

The weather in April can be unpredictable so plan for light jackets or sweaters for cooler weather. Layering is a good idea!
